Hey friends, how’s everyone doing this week?
A friend texted me the other day, asking how I was doing. My response was reasonable: Ummmmmmmm, idk. She called me edgy, and I accepted the compliment. I’ve been leaning into it for obvious reasons, and it will be interesting to see how I do IRL with strangers. In April, I’m going to put on my extrovert big girl pants as I make my way across the Western US. It would be super fun to meet you, hug you, and high-five you outside of this newsletter! Keep scrolling for the details.
Don’t let my snark fool (or intimidate) you. I really do believe that connecting in real and caring ways with people face-to-face in our local communities—and even those long-distance group chats and Zooms—is the medicine we need for these hard times. I’m here for it, and I’m excited about all of the things I’m working on to bring people together. If there’s something specific you’d like to be a part of, like a dream trip or gathering, drop it in the comments. Ski season is winding down so I’ll have more time on my hands and I’d love to create things we can all look forward to.
Before I go, if you remember, back in February, I wrote about wanting to feature small businesses here in Lady Parts. I know small businesses are going through it, and I believe only good things can come from using this platform to be of service to them. Today I want to share the story of a fellow entrepreneur in the outdoor industry who is giving away his business. We’re all a part of Founded Outdoors—one of those valuable virtual communities helping to keep the wheels on—and I had offered to share people’s stories here in Lady Parts. James took me up on my offer and shared that he’s not selling Last Minute Gear, he’s giving it away to someone who’s had that itch to own and operate a business in the outdoors, rentals, and circular economy. James started this San Francisco-based rental business because early camping adventures changed his life, and he wanted more people to access the outdoors while also creating alternatives to buying stuff.
As someone who has often wondered about life on the other side of this rollercoaster, I can only imagine how hard this decision has been for him. If you’re keen to chat with James, hit him up! And if you have a small biz story to share, let’s hear it!
Until next time…
Jen Gurecki, she/her, CEO of Coalition Snow
PS: Happy Women’s History Month
🪧 April 5th, Hands Off Protest: I’ll be in Carson City, but there’s likely an event near you. I’m particularly excited about this protest because so many organizations have come together to organize it. It might be the biggest protest we’ve seen yet. Register here and if you want to hang out with me, DM or email me your number and I’ll add you to the group text.

🚲 July, Cycling Safari in Kenya with Zawadisha: Please tell me what is more fun in summer than cycling next to giraffes and elephants. If you want to learn more, respond to this message or DM me. This is THE trip to save for.
PSS: You may have noticed there are a few missing pieces to this week’s Lady Parts. I’m experimenting with a new, shorter format that is more conducive to the 24 hours in a day. I plan on sharing all those links of things I’m following, reading, and watching in a once-a-month post + a playlist when I come across new music that I LOVE.
